What is the Suburban Law Enforcement Association?

The Suburban Law Enforcement Association (SLEA) was formed in 1937 as a non-profit fraternal group of law enforcement officers serving the Twin Cities Metropolitan area in Minnesota. The association strives to foster and cultivate the professional stature and the social relationships of its members.

Currently, the SLEA has approximately 300 members. They are active and retired suburban law enforcement officers, including county sheriffs and state and federal officers who are assigned to the Twin Cities Metropolitan area.

In addition to promoting general liaison between individuals and agencies, the Suburban Law Enforcement Association represents the interests of its membership through a unified voice. Issues affecting SLEA members are often presented to other laws enforcement fraternal and lobbying groups and to state legislators. SLEA Board members participate in the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) legislative conference and annual convention on behalf of SLEA members.
